Who We Are

North American history has shown that immigration has always been a key factor in the growth of North American enterprises. South Asians first landed on the shores of North America in the late 1800s.  Since the last century South Asians have worked hard in different industries.  However, they have always remained strong in the trucking industry.  Due to this fact, a number of South Asians in Toronto, Ontario, Canada got together in 2007 focused to establish North America's first trucking association to represent this group.  In August of 2007 the Indian Trucking Association was formed, the first of its' kind in North America.  It is to be made clear that the Indian Trucking Association is not just for the Indian/South Asian community; in fact it is open to all – everyone from all races, backgrounds, races, creeds.

The mandate of the Indian Trucking Association (ITA) is to enhance the trucking profession within the South Asian/East Indians trucking community from coast to coast to coast.  The ITA has since worked amongst all other trucking agencies such as provincial and federal trucking organizations, such as the Canadian Trucking Alliance, and the Ontario Trucking Association.  Furthermore, the ITA is also currently working along with the Ontario government and the Canadian federal government, on new initiatives.

The ITA has also worked hard and has succeeded with holding numerous seminars to the vast South Asian/East Indian trucking community.  These seminars are interactive providing 2-3 hours of experience and coaching from professional and dynamic trucking related professionals.  The seminars are free and offer free drinks/snacks.  This has become a great way of people getting to know each other and getting to network with each other. We have had leaders from the trucking industry come in and do seminars from MTO, Peterbilt, and CBSA, to name just a few.

The ITA since inception has always had a membership drive.  We are strong with over 800 members and offer our members with membership photo identification cards.  The usage of these cards - permit members to receive rebates from organizations that have vowed to provide our members with discounts.  This way all of our members benefit from this sole organizations full buying power. And this buying power is to expand.
