Great Canadian-Indian Truck Show 2008 & 2009

August 30, 2008, was a ground breaking day in the history of North America.
On August 30, 2008, North America and the rest of the world witnessed the 1st ever Indo Canadian Truck Show, in Brampton, Ontario, Canada brought to them by Indian Trucking Association. What’s ironic is that in a city nestled within the Greater Toronto Area, and strongly geared as a transportation hub, Brampton has never had a summer truck show. What makes it greater is that Brampton is also home to a large influx of South Asians/East Indians that work in the trucking industry. Hence, this location was symbolic for a truck show. The Great Canadian Indian Truck Show was an amazing event – it strived to bridge the gap amongst East Indians and Canadians, making this a colorful spectacle of tradition, history, velour, and determination. It had over 8,000 attendees. This truck show offered entertainment for both children and adults. The biggest companies in the trucking industry had their products on display. Companies such as Peterbilt, Kenworth, Freightliner, Western Star, Cobra Trailers, Centennial College, Humber College, Ministry of Transportation Ontario, Ontario Provincial Police, and Canadian Border Services Agency, to name a few had their booths.

On August 8, 2009 the trucking community was pleased again to see all the vendors, truckers, trucks, musicians, etc. The show was a great continuation of a tradition forged. This year has proven that the foundation of this show is on solid ground. This show is not a show to ever disappoint or to fail expectations. This year the Department of National Defense was present too. There were some amazing antique trucks even from the 1920s. All heavy duty truck manufacturers were present. And there was an amazing Jake Brake/Light/Horn competition. This really got the crowd going. We expect the tradition to continue on…attracting bigger and bigger crowds.
